…benefit [müzâvele(?)]. The king of the land they were heading for seizes every ship that is sound and without fault. I cut into it and made it faulty so that when that king's officers saw it they would say "it is damaged" and leave it alone, and the poor people aboard would get away and pass on in the damaged ship. Repairing the two planks I cut is easy enough. Did you see and hear how the boatman, saying "there must be some wisdom in it," bore the hurt and did us no harm? Yet you could not be as patient as the boatman.*1

And again, the owner of the wall in that village was a righteous man. He buried a treasure beneath the wall and entrusted it to God Most High, so that if he died it would fall to his children. Now he has died, and his children are small. If the wall collapsed, the treasure would come out and oppressors would take it and not give it to the children. That treasure is a trust from God. The wall must fall only once the children are grown, so that they may bring out their treasure and use it.

As for the boy I killed, his father and mother are among the righteous. They always pray that God Most High keep their righteous children alive and destroy those of their children who would harm them in this world and the next. It had been ordained that when that boy grew up he would be utterly corrupt, wicked and cruel, and in the end an unbeliever. God Most High accepted their prayer and destroyed him; in his place He must surely grant them a righteous child.*2

"O Moses, I do(?) not do these things of my own accord; I did them by divine command," he said, and vanished.*2

The Messenger of God, God bless him and give him peace, said: "Had my brother Moses been patient, he would have seen many wonders."
